We have recently been involved in a research project, investigating the mathematics that children can learn through their experiences with Poleidoblocs. For those not familiar with the product, Poleidoblocs is a set of 54 coloured blocks, cut into six basic shapes: cubes, cuboids, cylinders, triangular prisms, cones and pyramids. All of the blocks relate to each other in a large number of ways, including area, volume, number, and progression.
